The Exeter Demons matched up against Filton Pride for a friendly scrimmage underneath the Friday Night Lights. The first proper run through for freshers to the club and a chance to dust off some cobwebs for our returners after our very successful 6-2 season. The scrimmage allowed coaches to explore our new plays and roster depth against a well organised, athletic opposition. The first quarter was a tight affair with neither team registering a score, but the second quarter saw both teams convert opportunities with Will Straughan returning to the Demons with his first score of the season and Jake Cowley punching in the two point conversion. Filton extended their lead in the second half with the final score at 18-8 to Pride. Despite the loss, it was a great run-out for all the lads who have gained invaluable experience against quality opposition. With our annual training camp next weekend, the pieces are falling into place for what could be another extremely successful season.
